The Most Accurate Historical Prophets – Part 1

Trying to be a prophet is a tricky and potentially dangerous thing for anybody to try to do. The tricky part is fairly obvious but why can it be dangerous? It can be dangerous because people may use the prophecy as a spiritual activity or practice that can deceive others.

In this blog we look at some of the most accurate prophets that have ever been, some of these are well known prophets whilst others are more minor seers. Over time many prophets are proved to be false, but there are also some whose predictions came true as they were highly accurate.

Jesus Christ

One of the most controversial characters in history, Christ was very much an enigma as he made many bold predictions in his time. He once predicted a temple in Jerusalem would be raised to the ground, which was proved to be highly accurate. He also said that he would die and then rise again, which also happened. Many other prophets of the Old Testament foretold of Christ being the Messiah and made prophecies about Christ himself. Christ was almost a machine when it came to making prophecies and many of them have already come true, some are yet to happen.

Jeremiah preached messages to the Christians and Jews and what was about to happen to them at the hands of the Babylonians. He said that God was displeased over the way they were behaving, and he was going to use the Babylonians to show his displeasure by dispensing out discipline to the Jews. The Babylonians indeed took severe punishment out on the Jews and held them as slaves for over seventy years. He also made a prophecy that Jesus Christ would descend from the line of King David which was also proved to be accurate.

John the Baptist

John the Baptist was the last prophet to tell of the coming of the Messiah, he was born just before Christ and was actually his cousin. This was around the period of 10 B.C and again the Old Testament prophets foretold of the coming of John the Baptist. Everything he said about the coming of Christ was proved to be true.

Abraham lived roughly four thousand years ago in the Middle East area as it is now known. He was the first instrument that God used to form the Jewish nation. God spoke to Abraham on many occasions and through these talks Abraham made many prophecies.

He revealed that it would be God who would be the Father of many peoples and nations and that it would be his descendants that would eventually have their own nation. He also foretold that the Jews one day would become a great nation, which all proved to be true.

Abraham also spoke about a Messiah and that he would be a direct descendant of God. All of Abraham’s predictions came true many years after his passing. In part two of our blog we learn about even more of the great accurate prophets of the past including the Brahan Seer and Joan Quigley.
